DEDICATION We ot the l956 Senior Class co- dedicate this year's publication of the Torch to Mr. Buto for his never ending in- terest in the many activities which made our days at Tech both profitable and happy. l-lis smile and friendly manner have become synonomous with Technical High School. We also dedicate the l956 pub- lication of the Torch to Mr. Ungerman who gave generously ot his time and in- terest to make our days at Tech rich in learning and abundant in fun. His under- standing smile and determination to be a gpod teacher will be remembered by all.

PROGRESS SINCE THE END OF THE I956 SCHOOL TERM, PARADOXICALLY, MARKS THE BE- GINNING OF THE TRANSITION FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW, ,THE STAFF CHOSE A FUTURISTIC TYPE OF THEME, ONE SYMBOL- IZING ERIE'S PROGRESS IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AS ITS CENTER OF OPERATION IS MOVED FROM THE OLD BUILDING TO THE NEW SITE ON UPPER PEACH STREET. FRESHMEN SYMBOLIZE ERIE'S NEW VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN THE BLUEPRINT STAGE. SOPHOMORES REPRESENT THE GROUND-BREAKING AND EXCAVATION PHASE. JUNIORS DEPICT THE RISE OF THE STEEL-RIBBED FRAMEWORK. SENIORS ARE THE EPITOME OF THE BUILDING AS IT STANDS RESPLENDENT AND COMPLETED.
