Shen- tan with medallion of office. rie County Technical Institute inaugurated its third President, James Edward Shenton, on Thursday, October 6, l966, at l:30 P.M. in the Sports Arena. Dr. Samuel Gould, Chancellor of the State Uni- versity of New York, presented the President's Me- dallion, official emblem of office. In a ceremony dating from medieval times, the Faculty, Trustees, and academic representatives garbed in caps and gowns followed the Maceain procession. Invited guests and representatives of the 2300 students watched the inaugural events. President Shenton's inaugural address was en- titled Benchmark 66. He is one of the three pi- oneer faculty members still on campus who opened ECTI at the original Elmwood Avenue site twenty years ago. The ceremonies were followed by a general reception in the Spring Student Center at 3 P.M. and a Faculty-Staff dinner-dance at the Hearthstone Manor at 7 P.M. At Mr. Shenton's side throughout the day was Mrs. Shenton.
