H35 ru-im. CLASS PRCJPHECY As we look through the library of time we come across the volume in which the lives of the class of '53' is recorded. We open the book and find Dorothy Cobb playing center for the Harlem Globe Trotters. Clarence Cruse is the manager ofthe famous All-Star Girls Basketball team. As Coach at Notre Dame we find Junior Null. Jim Thorpe has taken to track. He races with turtles. In the second chapter we find Carol Richardson as the fat lady of the Barnum and Baily Circus. Ronnie Kuykendall is going in circles. He has his own Swedish Disc Jockey Show. Dorothy Jacobs is employed as a John Robert Powers model and Mari- lyn Packer works in a pickle factory. She puts the dill on pickles. While we are reading of factories we find Betty Emo making rumble seats for motorcycles in the Howard Motorcycle Plant. The next chapter has a lot to do with interesting occupations. First of all we find that Dickie Bleitz has taken over Finnicum's job as official waste -basket emptier. 1 23

I, Beverly Thomas, leave my boisterous ways to Bob Curry. I, Jim Thorpe, leave my studious ways to Dave Filbert. I, Lilah Lee VanDamme, leave my giggling spells to Erma Spears. I, Allen VenHuizen, leave my desire to be a minister to Wayne Rose. Joe Filbert has nothing to leave so we leave him to Bob Finnicum to dis- pose of. To the teachers we leave our sincere wish that the future classes will be as studious as we were. To the Freshmen we leave all our left-over talents. To the Sophomores, our ability to get along with each other. To the Juniors, our history workbooks. To E.C.H.S. we leave a full supply of water guns, unbreakable desks, and sidewalks across the lawn. Thus, we, the graduating class of 1953, do seal this last will and testament on this fifteenth day of May in the year nineteen hundred fifty- three. Mary Ann Naftzger Signed, sealed, published, and declared by the said Senior Class, as and for their last will and testament in the presence of us, who, at their request, have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses to said docu- ment. As we go into the fourth chapter we find Virginia Nelson doing a floursh- ing business in Fenton with her modern dance studio. Another talented girl from Fenton is Gertrude Baar. She just opened anew bakery. Ruth Ann Fietis her able assistant. She puts the holes in the doughnuts. Paul Ellison has gotten farther from Erie than most of his classmates. He owns a chain of gas stations from Alaska to Argentina. Adalene Heun is his general manager of the one farthest north. Allen Ven Huizen paints the numbers on clocks in the Hamstra Clock Factory in Erie. Gerald Hamstra Proprietor. Nancy Jackson is way down in Texas with a rodeo. Faye Melton didn't get anywhere. She's still sitting in E.C.H.S. shoot- ing paper wads. The final chapter is made up of a little bit of everything. Beverly Thomas is a surgeon. Cutting up as usual. Jean Kaecker keeps Bev's instruments sharp. She's an old sharpie. 24
