This year the Future Farmers of America elect- ed the following officers to head the chapter: president, Arlyn Wirthg vice-president, James De- Capg secretary, Melvin Saad: treasurer, Lyle Brooksg reporter, Ronald Kuykendallg and sentinel, Kennard Hoerler. Mr. W. W. Langdoc is the advisor. The main objectives of the F.F.A. are to de- velop well organized supervised farming programs, to foster co-operation by the co-operative activi- ties in helping farmers an d other members in the community to improve their livestock and crops, and to develop good leadership and scholarship in local school and state activities. We have twenty-two active members in the F.F.A. chapter this year. We began the year's ao- tivities with the Formal Greenhand Initiation which raised twelve members to C-reenhand degree. All the officers were sent to t he Section II Leadership Training School fo r a two-day outing at Camp Hau- berg near Port Byron, Illinois, on the Mississippi River. One of our members, Kennard Hoerler, started a new chain gilt project by giving a purebred Dur- oc gilt to the F.F.A. to be given to someone who is in need ofa project and who is capable of hand- ling the gilt. Members planned and solicited money for a project fo r a Freshman member, Larry Brown. We decided to purchase a purebred Holstein cow and heifer calf with the money collectedby members and received through the mail.
