Sciazce Last-minute instructions are given to Ilsa Roslow by Thomas Lawrence. Every student knows that it was a mere apple fall- ing from a tree that was the immediate impetus for Isaac Newton's formulation of the theory of gravita- tional attraction. However the physics student is aware that there is more to the physical sciences than concussion-causing apples. In chemistry classes we waded through equations, elements and com- pounds. When we reached the physics classroom, we were greeted with a plethora of units-ergs, jffjfQ,:S-'E l 'oules d nes and even one named for our friend- - l 2 Y 2 .. , newtons. The Monroe Doctrine is explained to an American history class by Miss Helen McQueen. Social Studied Perhaps the most feared but best-liked subject we encountered was the fascinating World of history. The thought of scurrying through an impossibly long examination was counter-balanced by the irre- sistible lure of the past. VVhether it was founding cities with the Phoenicians, or finding new worlds with Columbus, or solving deep financial problems with I. P. Morgan, We all found a place Where We felt we ubelongedf, Summarily, our interests grew, and not even a stiif 55 minute final, taken in 40 minutes, could dim the luster of the story of the world. 24 gif. 12,1 1 'Y' ' 'X :gli QI ' wi WTJKL lt V hflf .
