CLASS Do you remember the energetic freshie . running here and there trying to please everyone? Well, don't laugh! That was . x you-Mr. Elbert's child wonder. We en- X tered the annex during the bleak winter N' AX Y month of February, and many of us can i XX readily recall wading home in the deep A L -. I snow with darkness rapidly approaching. On morning session we walked about half famished and listened with great eagerness for the noon dismissal bell. The A 5 Q big apple was the rage and jitterbugs were starting on their wild road to fame. As our second term rolled around we trudged on to the old grey school. Here we were greeted by Miss King, who was to guide us through the ensuing years at Erasmus. With our entrance Erasmus Hall witnessed the arrival of the noisiest bunch of Freshies it had yet received. Iingle bells, jingle bells, jingles everywhere. Shoes with bells, wrists with bells, Made teachers tear their hair. At Christmas time we were delighted with the lovely Christmas program held in Chapel. Iames McCrory's angelic soprano voice led the Boys' Glee Club in the performances. Sophomoresl Well we were getting there, slowly but surely, Cwe hopedl. That term Paul Whiteman, King of Swing, came to Erasmus, and we all got in the groove. Shag, lindy hop, and susy-Q. Remember! The pounding and hammering of machines added to the jibber jabber of our grade as the work began on the Snyder wing. The World's Fair was opened at Flush- ing Meadows and many of us spent numerous happy hours cutting classes to T 'J explore the modern buildings and wander my Y gleefully through the amusement area. 1 ul As the winter term approached, grade W' four went around seeing double, for the Boehm twins held office in Iunior Arista, Q with Iames McCrory as boy leader. Our l football team that year was great. Vic- ky tory followed victory, until we bowed in . defeat before the mighty Boys' High team. yi The end of the term came and with it our no ' first regents.
