AN ADDRESS p J E HAVE been travelling together on life's highway for four years. W A conducted tour-shall We say?-in the realm of education. Q Now we approach a turning point where you take leave of the aj conductor and continue the journey independently. May He Who F4 designs the pattern of our lives, grant you continued health, increasing success and happiness. It has been a privilege to share these years with you,-years when you have been building a character which may Win the respect of all. You have learned to adapt yourselves to such life situations as you have found in the class room and in the conduct of student affairs. Here you have developed qualities of leadership, cooperation, and understanding,-habits of regularity, industry, and self-control. I hope We have fostered in you, too, a Wholesome respect for law and order, and a reverence for the higher things in life. Go forth now as loyal citizens of Erasmus Hall. Remember that our school will be judged by you. Be Worthy of its traditions and true to its ideals. Face to-dayls economic problems with courage and faith,-a Will to conquer, a grim determination to succeed. Do not dare to live Without some clear intention toward which your living shall be bent. Mean With all your might to be some- thing. Be honest with yourself as Well as with your fellows. Play fair, not because you might be caught if you cheated, but because cheating is a loath- some thing. Honesty is not a policy but a right Way of living. It is difficult to address you thus, as a group. I much prefer to talk With you informally and individually. Your problems have been my problems through these years. My interest in your progress cannot cease at commence- ment. I shall expect to hear from you and about you as the years roll on. Let us, then, be up :mtl doing, Witty cz heart for any fate, Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait. FLORENCE E. DENHOLM
