The l950 Era Hornets was a small fighting group of inexperienced boys. The record was nothing to boast a- bout, butall games were hard fought. To start the season off they were defeated by a powerful Munster eleven, 31 to 6. Then they traveled to Bridgeport only to be defeated by a 26 to 0 score. Then the next Friday they stayed at home and broke into the winning column by defeating Northwest, 7 to 6, in a closely fought battle all thewoy. On Friday, October l3, they went to Boyd to meet a fighting Yellow Jacket crew, and again went down in a closely fought battle, 12 to 0. The following Friday, Sanger invaded the Hornet Field to take ahard fought battle, l3 to 6. St. Mary's of Gainesville took a close decision from the Hornets, l2 to 9. Then the powerful Lewisville Farmers invaded Hornetville to the tune of 40 to 7. The Hornets then traveled to Valley View to meet their old rivals, the Eagles. The Hornets were blessed with hard luck, and came out on the little end, l3 to6. Then the last game of the year with Pilot Point was reeled off on the Hornet turf. The larger and more experienced Bearcats squeezed past thc Hornets, 20 to 13.
