i OC Division ENS Hansen, OC Division Officer OC Division, the heart of Operations Department, is made up of a handful of men with. high technical knowledge, men who operate advanced equipment and handle classified messages. The radio men are responsible for setting up equipment and patching it to CIC and the bridge. They are also responsi- ble for setting up the gear in radio and using it to transmit messages to any area of the world, land, sea, or air. Fladiomen have the arduous job of be- ing the ears of the ship. During the WESTPAC the radiomen of EPPERSON won a hashmark for the green Not only do radiomen han- dle military messages, they also handle telephone calls and telegrams while at sea. - Not to be left out are the SIGNALMEN who also make up an important part of the OC Division. While their job is not always so demanding their working conditions can sometimes be very severe due to weather conditions. Our signalmen have proven themselves to be the fleet by participating in drills in WESTPAC and coming out a HEAD above the best.
