Lieutenant James Robert Hopkins attended high school in Richmond, Virginia and enlisted in the Navy in November, 1959. After completion of the Naval Preparatory School in May 1961, Lieutenant Hopkins entered the U. S. Naval Academy and graduated from there with the class of 1965. Lt. Hopkins has served aboard USS MYLES C FOX QDD 8291 as First Lieutenant and Gunnery Officer and as Executive Officer of USS WIDGEON QMSO 208y. He has also served as an instructor at the Naval Academy and is a graduate of the Naval Destroyer School. He reported to USS EPPERSON QDD 7191 in May 1972 to serve as Engineering Officer. He and his wife Grace have two children, Elizabeth and David.
