LCDR ALFORD, as senior staff member, is charged with the responsibility of Operations and Mfeapons, as well as lending valuable experience to all other staff members. LCDR NVATTS, the chaplain, is charge of the spiritual and welfare program of the ships and staff members. LT MC CABE, the material officer, is responsible for the material condition of all the ships. LTJC COLLINS, the electronic material officer assists in the electronic readiness of the ships. LT HOLL, the squadron doctor, has the responsibility of the health and welfare of all ships and staff members. LTJG SULLIVAN, the squadron communications officer, assists' the ships in all' matterpertaining to communications. SPCM SWEAIGART, assist Lt Mc Cabe in the material readiness of the ships. RMCS ALDRICH, TIDVVELL RM2, and FISHER CYN3 all assist LT-IC Sullivan in all matters of communications. BOYER YNI and HAYES YN3 are in charge of the staff office and assist the Commodore and staff officers in all required reports and paper work. ABAD SD3 and GERILLA TN are the Commodores' stewards. They not only prepare and serve all his meals but assist the ships stewards in taking care ol' the staff officers staterooms.

COMDESRUN 25 CAPTAIN USNAVY T.W.F. WALSH BIOGRAPHY CAPTAIN THOMAS W. WALSH, USN Captain Thomas W. Walsh, USN was born on 22 October 1921 in New York, N.Y., where he attended Cathedral Boys' School and Manhattan College prior to entering the U.S. Naval Acad- emy. He is a graduate of the Naval Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, the Armed Forces Stall College and the National War College and holds the B.S. and M.S. degrees. Upon graduation from the Naval Academy in June 1943, Captain Walsh was ordered to USS NEVADA QBB 362 in which he served throughout the remainder of World War 11, participat- ing in the Invasions of Normandy, Southern France, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Following World Wfar 11 Captain Walsh served in a variety of Sea and staff assignments. Sea assignments have included Gunnery Officer of JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR. QDD 850J, Execu- tive Ofllicer of DORTCH QDD 6'70J, command of TWEEDY QDE 532j, and command of LAXA7- RENCE QDDG 4J which he placed in commission as Commanding Ollicer at Naval Base, Philadel- phia, on 6 January 1962. Captain Walsh's staflf assignments have included Aide and Flag Lieutenant to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Germany, Assistant Naval Attache CScientihc and Technical Liaisonj, Paris, France, Head, Cold YVar Section, Oflice of Naval Intelligence, and Head, Navy Strategic Plans Section, Strategic Plans Division, Ofhce of the Chief of Naval Operations. On 2 Septembor 1966, Captain Walsh took command of Destroyer Squadron TXNENTY FIVE at Naval Base, Pearl Harbor. Captain Malsh is married to the former Agnes Mary Sharkey of Philadelphia and has one son, Anthony Reade, age 12.
