BACK ROW: Ensign Podobnik, MR3 Corn, MMS Mann, FN Peers, SFP2 Ball, FN Hays, SFP3 Fischer, FN Glanz, FA Brown, MMI Hoy. R Division is divided into two separate parts, A Gang and Gang. A gang is as- signed responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance of such spaces as the air conditioning machinery room, emergency diesel generator room and refrigerating machinery room. The men maintain and repair air compressors, emergency Fire pumps, boat engines, heating and cooling sys- tems, as well as laundry and galley machinery. All the men in A gang are well known through- out the ship. They include, Where is HOY, John Paul JONES, Report to the bridge CLAY- TON, Jody MANN, Big Red BROWN, Anybody seen brown BRO'NN, Professor FOX, Big Moose WEIST, Bus boy RIBA, Baby face HAYS, and Not so dumb HURT. R Gang is in charge of such spaces as the carpenter and shipfitters shop, repair party lockers, and gas mask lockers. The gang's main function is to provide welding and allied services to other divisions. The shipfitters and damage controlmen can fix anything from a watch band to a hatch. These men are: Screw BALL, The big four corner XNICKER, Gee-vum GALLANT, HoFfendinger FISCHER, Shaky Jake JACOBSON, Stoney HOUSTON, W7heeler FISHER, and finally Head Man CURRY. The Machinery Repairmen, who work with lathes, grinders, drill presses, are part ol' R gang too. The head MR is Pop CORN, Corn's strikers are Greasy SOLlS, and Hairy GLANZ. It is difficult to think of a nickname for our division officer, Ensign PODOBNIK, since he is not seen too often. Occassionally Mr. PODOBNIK may be found in the hanger. playing .-Xccy Deucy with LTJC. VVEST.
