The 1984-85 Carillon is dedicated to The Reverend Canon Donald Henning Whose life and good works have touched the lives of many A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Henning was graduated from Kenyon College and Bexley Hall Seminary, both in Gambier, Ohio, with a Ph.B. and M.Div. degrees. Kenyon College granted him a D.D. in 19415 Southwestern at Memphis bestowed an L.H.D. in 1953. Dr. Henning began ministry in Dallas, South Dakota. From there he was called to Minnesota to serve as Rector of the Christ Church parish. ln 1940, Dr. Henning served as head- master of the Shattuck School in Faribault, Minnesota. In 1942, he entered military ser- vice as an Army Chaplain. At the same time of his active duty release in 1945, he was Senior Chaplain fMajorj of the Military Railway Service in the European Theatre of Operations. Dr. Henning then returned as Headmaster of the Shattuck School. Later, in 1949, he became Rector of Calvary Church, Tennessee, and served there for fifteen years. From February 1966 to Iune 1975, Dr. Henning served as Rector of St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Dallas. He than became an Ad- ministrative Assistant with the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. Dr. Henning was named by the Diocese of Dallas as Priest of the Year 1968 and in 1969 was ap- pointed Honorary Canon of and will never be forgotten. i fi 4

St. Matthew's Cathedral. A founder of the Episcopal School of Dallas in 1974, Dr. Hen- ning served as founding Chairman of the Board, and was for many years a member of the National Board of the Association of Episcopal Colleges. At the Episcopal School Dr. Henning participated in major events such as groundbreaking for new buildings, and dedications and blessings for other constituents of the school's expansion. At Episcopal Dr. Henning holds the unreplaceable position of Chancellor of the Episcopal School. S i
