With the new field and new equipment the team could practice better and host games on its own field. Coach Eddie Eason, assistant coach Scott Kimball, and the team did an impressive job. As a matter of fact, they did such a good job that the first game won by the baseball team was announced in chapel - no one ex- pected it! Our 1985 baseball players were: Ed Butler, Beall Carothers, Blake Estess, Tim Frank, Mike Friedman, Brett Harrison, Tommy Iohnson, Allen Koenig, Colin Lardner, Steve Lawty, Rob Lodge, David Martineau, Tony Miller, Drew Robertson, Kenny Sharpe, and Scot Whitworth. Mike Friedman, Blake Estess, and Colin Lardner made MISC All-Conference, and Blake Estess and Mike Friedman also made SPC All-Conference. The Most Improved Player was Ken- ny Sharpeg Blake Estess was Most Valuable Player. .PTT N . 206

Head coach Armando Viera, assisted by Sherry Wamsley, led our courageous athletes through many matches. We may not have turned out victorious, but one thing is not to forget: even though this was the first year we had courts to practice on, we also had harder teams to com- pete against. This year was the first one we entered a more competitive league, being part of both SPC and MISC. Varsity members were: Baron Quintana, Peter Blomquist, Charles Gar- rison, Iimmy O'Neal, lack Chance, Mark Offutt, Wendy Doreen, Andrew Natale, Michael Fried- man, Iennifer Lively, Melissa Curry, Bill Criswell, Stephanie Marquez, Kendall Kelly, Diane Knuths, Kendra Kimbell, Brett Harrison, Michelle Long, and Lucy Aston. Other team members were: Amy Goldstein, Karen Smilack, Iamie Armstrong, Kenneth Goodwin, Leanne Ellis, Allison Smith, Aimsley Bumpass, Sara Willerson, Margareth Ryder, and Iennie Galloway. The Most Improved Players were Iimmy O'Neal and Wendy Doreen, the Most Valuable Players were Baron Quintana and Kendall Kelly. 2
