CROSS CUUNTRY The cross country team under the undying leadership of head coach Iohn Yarbrough reached great heights in the state and area matches this year. With superstars such as Shawn Burke and Lee McDaniel, the team claimed many top places in area and district runs. The MISC all con- ference athletes and SPC all con- ference athletes were Shawn Burke and Lee McDaniel. Shawn Burke also got the all-state title and most valuable player awards. The most im- proved player on the team was Ken- ny Sharpe. Team members: Shawn Burke, Beall Carothers, Iohn Dewees, Blake Estess, Elliot Etheredge, Brett Harrison, Matt Helm, Iay Huller, Colin Lardner, Lee McDaniel, Todd McGee, Ward Maedgen, Scott Mathews, Mark Meadows, Drew Robertson, Kenny Sharpe, and Tricia Williamson.

DLLEYBALL The volleyball team set off for this year with a week long volleyball camp held at ESD in the summer. Head coach Barbara Maberry and coach Eddie Eason prepared the team to compete in the MISC con- ference. The team did well in the season play. Shelley Lewis got the MISC all-conference player award. The most improved player and most valuable player were Iennifer Lively and Beth Murray, respectively. The team also got the sportsmanship award at the Greenhill Varsity tournament. BUYS The boys Varsity soccer team had another successful year under the leadership of head coach Matthew Iacob. The team par- ticipated in both the MISC and SPC con- ferences. The team showed their awesome potential against such teams as Greenhill and St. Marks The bulk of the team was underclassmen which circumstances forsees an even more successful next year. The most improved and most valuable players were Kirk Kibler and lack Chance, respectively. lack Chance and Peter Blom- quist got the SPC all-conference player awards, The MISC all-conference awards went to Sean Chadwick and Peter Blomquist. Team membersi Brannon Brewer, Peter Blomquist, Sean Chadwick, lack Chance, Iohn Dewees, Elliot Etheridge, Tommy johnson, Kirk Kibler, Collin Lardner, Doug Macari. Ward Maedgen, Todd McGee, David Moderi, Andrew Natale, Arthur Saunders, Mike Simpson, Louis Thomas, and Pat W'heeler. GIRLS The girls varsity soccer team, coached by Barbara Maberry with assistants Kate Belknap and lack Altman, greatly improved this year and placed third in the SPC conf ference, The teain was composed mostly of sophomores and freslnnen and thereby will predictably have stronger years in the future. The MISC all-conference player award went to lennifer l.ively. The SPC all-conference awards went to Iennifer Lively and Carolina Pagliuca. The most im- proved player and most valuable player awards went to Lively and Pagliuca as well. Team members: lainie Armstrong, Sarah Boardman, lane Caldwell, lenny Calloway, Kelly Caperton, Melissa Curry, leannie DeArmond, Tish Uoke, Leanne Ellis, Bren- da Field, Laurie lfreeman.
