The group en- joyed spending time sightseeing in London, shopping in Harrods, and participating in the drama, art, and poetry workshops held in the mornings at the festival, As part of the evening activities, the group took part in talent shows and concerts and went swimming and danc- ing. Making new friends, learning more about other cultures, and en- joying the beauty of England and its people were the highlights of the trip. Middle School Christmas Project The Middle School Christmas project came to a close on December 18, when the class officers from all Middle School grades went to St. Phillip's Episcopal Day School in South Dallas. There we met and had lunch with the four families and eight children to whom we had brought our gifts and food. We were - thanks to the incredible efforts of the students, school families and staff - able to raise more than S2000! When all had been said and done, there was about S300 left in the account and we are forwarding the amount to Mrs. Gwen Chance, Director of St. Phillip's, to be used as she sees fit in the further ministry to the school's children. Each child received new shoes, socks, jeans, shirt, sweater, winter jacket and hat - and an abundant amount of toys, large and small. In addition, each family unit received a boxed, cooked Christmas turkey dinner and a very large supply of canned goods and other foods. We want, finally, to express - to all those who helped - the largest possible THANK YOU. You made the pro- gram possible, and we are most appreciative. Lessons and Carols The Lessons and Carols ceremony this year was held again in the commons under the huge Christmas tree. An aura of joy and Christmas spirit filled the room as the last day of classes before the holiday came to an end. And the service was held in its usual spirit of vigor. The Lay Readers for the ceremony included representatives from the middle school, upper school, and the Board of Directors. The officiants of the ceremony were Fr. Swann and Fr. Altman. The mid- dle school and upper school choirs, led by Mary lane Thorton and Christine Cox respectively, sang many traditional and modern carols throughout the service. ess. WJ?
