Middle School Christmas Project The Middle School Christmas project came to a close on December 18, when the class officers from all Middle School grades went to St. Phillip's Episcopal Day School in South Dallas. There we met and had lunch with the four families and eight children to whom we had brought our gifts and food. We were - thanks to the incredible efforts of the students, school families and staff - able to raise more than S2000! When all had been said and done, there was about S300 left in the account and we are forwarding the amount to Mrs. Gwen Chance, Director of St. Phillip's, to be used as she sees fit in the further ministry to the school's children. Each child received new shoes, socks, jeans, shirt, sweater, winter jacket and hat - and an abundant amount of toys, large and small. In addition, each family unit received a boxed, cooked Christmas turkey dinner and a very large supply of canned goods and other foods. We want, finally, to express - to all those who helped - the largest possible THANK YOU. You made the pro- gram possible, and we are most appreciative. The Eighth Crade Class by Scott Kimball In Washington, the students visited the Capitol Building and met Congressman Bartlett. They took a tour of the FBI Building, in which the highlight for the girls was meeting a Special Agent who had been in a video with Duran Duran. We spent a couple of hours in the American History Museum, took a tour of the White House, met Sam Donaldson, who is the ABC News White House correspondent, visited the Air and Space Museum, went to Arlington National Cemetery where everyone was moved by the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, as well as the Ken- nedy gravesite. We visited Ford's Theatre, had a wonderful catered dinner in the home of Tara Bailey's grandmother, where we met Margaret Heckler, the Secretary of Health and Human Services. We took in the Lincoln Memorial, Iefferson Memorial, and the Viet- nam Memorial, which was quite awesome. We also at- tended church at the National Cathedral. In Williamsburg, we took two different tours of the Colonial town. It was quite interesting for the kids, learning how the folks used to live in the 16 and 1700's. In all, the trip lasted 5 days and a good time was had by all. THE END Visits the Capitol
