Bing Bag: ft Ikm Episcopal Tradition tt X he ring symbolizes a continuance of the things that have come before and will come in the future, said Mrs. Mildred Bonner, the Juniors' choice for class speaker. This ring shows a sense of friendship. It states a tradition of excellence that has been passed on to you. V A shiny gold ring hung on a thin royal blue satin ribbon around each of the Seniors' necks. In the Chapel of the Good Shepherd that Monday Morning on February 1, 1988 anxiety was high. The Juniors had been waiting for this day: the receiving of their class ring. Each Junior chose a Senior to present the ring. The popular choice for the girls was their Big Sis , while the guys chose one of their favorite teammates. Mr. Shreve, also chosen by the Juniors, called out the names of each Junior and their partner. Lots of hugs and whispered congratulations were given along with the rings. Although a serious occasion, the ceremony didn't go without humor. Senior Mike Vick intentionally cut his ribbon so it wouldn't fit over the head of his unsuspecting Junior, Richie Myer. The ring day committee led by Father Trent and Mrs. Kornegay consisted of Caroline Blitzer, Tanya Blom, Laura Carpenter, Anna Coates, Richie Myer, Charlotte Rolfs, and Jason Rush. It was this group that made ring day successful. They planned it on a perfect day too. Twenty years ago, February 1,1968, the ground was broken for the Episcopal campus.
