Bleacher Creatures The Senior Sports Support T he Bleacher Creatures took E.H.S. by storm on October 17, 1986. The unprecedented student athletic support group founded by Jason Dupree in 1986, the Bleacher Creatures still crawl to every game intimidating rivals, supporting the Knights, and wrecking havoc in their wake. Dupree's reason for founding the organization is to solicit more fan support. I wanted to get all the juniors out to the games. We were winning, and nobody was coming.'' The eleven founding fathers include: Charles Carpenter, Jon Coleman, Jason Dupree, Shawn Frazer, John Hook, Terrell Joseph, Chris King, Bud Shenefelt, Mike Vick, Geordy Waters and Phil Zuber, Chris King has another theory of the Bleacher Creatures' mission: “To show our class dominance over the school. Bleacher Creatures was a new concept of student spirit. It needed to bombard the school to gain acceptance. It did. The uniform: a navy or gold T-shirt or sweatshirt. The front bares their title: “Bleacher Creatures. The back reads, Class of ‘88 Kicks A . Now exclusively a senior organization, the Bleacher Creatures show up at football games holding signs to support players Jim Douglas or Tom Cockerham. Their trinkets and props include cowbells, foghorns, and their own unique cheers. Bud Shenefelt's get-up includes a blue metallic wig, colored face paint with matching gloves, and a loud voice for the occasion. To insure the tradition, the senior Creatures hand down their shirts to selected juniors, come spring. Bleacher Creatures Rule! Front Row: Phil Zuber, Mike Vick, Brandon Brown.
