Stcamboalm: ft phenomenal Performance fter four weeks and fif-Tt teen rehearsals, the cast of the lower middle school play, Steamboatin', entertained audiences on October 6,7, and 8. Performers recaptured the hardships of life along the Mississippi River. Uncle Jed, portrayed by John Wilson, narrates tales from his childhood. Children gather around him as he tells his story of days on Ole Man River. These musical stories included Betty Sue, a song about the gloomy time when the old Mississip' overflowed its banks and devastated the community. The cooperation of the students was most helpful, said Director Danny Tiberghein, a sixth grade science teacher and first year director of a play at Episcopal High School. He was phenomenal! exclaimed Tiberghein, His enthusiasm towards the long rehearsals and acting with fellow members of the cast shows his talent for future plays. Hats off the the steamboat passengers, city dwellers, rafters, roustabouts, dancers, singers, first mate, and pilot for an entertaining evening and for letting us sink our soles in the Mississippi mud. The upper school Thespians and Apprentices helped with the organization and costumes for the play: Becky Noriea, assistant director; Scottie Noland, backstage manager; Ashley Sexton, backstage manager; and Farra Bracht, make-up director. While Director Danny Tiberghein adds the finishing touches, John Wilson contemplates the upcoming performance. 22
