BAS Varsity Golf Team: Dioision 111 The EHS Varsity Golf Team, at the end of its competitive season for 1987-88, participated in the Baton Rouge Metro League, finishing undefeated. They also carried away first place wins in both the District and Regional high school golf tournaments. We were represented in the Division III Regional Golf Tournament at Shenandoah Country Club on April 20th by a five member team, posting the winning score of 322. Erik Stromeyer placed second with an individual score of 79, followed by Trey Blue, 80; Jason Dupree 81; Freddie Giles, 82; and Charlie Kennon, 84. The team defended its two year High School Golf Tournament Championship Title at the Country Club of Louisiana on April 26 and 27. A total of 62 tournament players vied for the state team and individual championships. For the third year in a row, our Golf Team has successfully defended their title of State Champs. 14Q The 1988 Swim Team made an impressive showing in the state meet this season. Our girl's team was highlighted by several top ten performances. Our 200 Medley relay team, composed of Julia Robertson, Blaire Neher, Jill Fakouri, and Karyn Story finished 10th in the state clocking a school record 2:12. Julia Robertson finished in the top ten in both the 500 and 200 yard free style. Karyn Story also finished in the top ten in both her events: the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. Our boys team was highlighted by MVP Paul Daigle. Paul was state runner-up in the 500 yard free style and third in the state in the 100 yard breaststroke. The boys 200 yard Medley relay team finished seventh in the state which is the highest finish ever for an EHS boys relay team. This team was composed of Paul Daigle, Chuck Daigle, Hunter Manship, and John Haynes. Chuck Daigle finished the top ten performances for our swim team in his two events, 200 yard Individual Medley, and 100 yard breaststroke.
