T hey are hard working, dedicated, 1 and enthusiastic, said Coach Longeway, describing Episcopal's soccer team of two years. They improved their play and had good spirit. This year's soccer team consisted of 17 players, led by senior captains Charles Carpenter, also most valuable player, and Terrell Joseph. Being a second year team, they lost to more experienced players in the Catholic High and District Tournaments. However, the EHS team upset a tough rival, Destrahan, with a score of 3-0. Due to graduation, the soccer team will lose over half its players. Coach Longeway is eager to recruit new members for the fall. BAS Varsity Golf Team: Dioision 111 The EHS Varsity Golf Team, at the end of its competitive season for 1987-88, participated in the Baton Rouge Metro League, finishing undefeated. They also carried away first place wins in both the District and Regional high school golf tournaments. We were represented in the Division III Regional Golf Tournament at Shenandoah Country Club on April 20th by a five member team, posting the winning score of 322. Erik Stromeyer placed second with an individual score of 79, followed by Trey Blue, 80; Jason Dupree 81; Freddie Giles, 82; and Charlie Kennon, 84. The team defended its two year High School Golf Tournament Championship Title at the Country Club of Louisiana on April 26 and 27. A total of 62 tournament players vied for the state team and individual championships. For the third year in a row, our Golf Team has successfully defended their title of State Champs. Junior Freddy Giles was the individual State Champion. 118
