Endless drills and plays run over and over again intensified the unpleasant humidity and temperature, but the District Champs of 1986 didn't care for they were shooting for State this time. With an annihilating defense and offensive line, and with effective passing, the Knights were termed indestroyable. The Knights began the season with a disheartening loss to U-High. However, the team didn't let that get them down. It only intensified their desire to win. They harnessed that desire and rolled over Ascen- 126 sion Catholic, Catholic High of Point Coupee, Parkview Baptist, Brusley, Christian Life, and Bishop Sullivan. A devastating blow was dealt to the Knights when quarterback Charlie Kennon's arm was broken in the game against West St. John. Todd Graves, 2nd string quarterback, was thrust into control. Despite the fact that the Knights finished the season with a 6-4 record, Graves finished with impressive stats and all of EHS looks forward to him leading the Knights to a 10-0 season in the 88 season. There is quite another side to the EHS football squad — the players. A lot of close friendships are formed on the field. When asked what his favorite part of the football team was Jim Douglas said, The comradory. We stick up for each other. Charlie Kennon's favorite part was the closeness you get with the other seniors. Of course, the Bleacher Creatures made football games a little more spirited with their cheers (obscene or not) and gave the football team that extra shove. We really appreciated them, said Head Coach LeBlanc. The spirit was a big part of football this year. There were more people, more cheers, and more support at the games. ■
