Cross Country «Me will not be outworked” is the vU Cross Country team's motto, but they may be overlooked. Stamina, strength, ability, and sportsmanship are all a part of being on the Cross Country team. The team works long hard hours and sometimes doesn't get the credit they deserve. As one of the finest coaches in the state,” Coach Dupe led the team all the way to state. Before early Saturday morning meets, it is his job to encourage each member to do his very best. This year's team has three senior members: Jon Coleman, Arthur Stowe, and Jason Dupree, who couldn't finish the season because of an injury. lllltcit ftuimcrs Stripe Ip Be Their Deri) Best ftnd Come Together fts ft family (Jm Hhk ft State Championship Team. Otherwise the team had no setbacks, leading the way to victories at St. Martin's Invitational, Bay City, Texas Invitational meet. The team became tenth year in a row District 8 — AA champs and second year in a row State AA champs. Four meets being the most Episcopal has ever won. All top seven runners finished in the top twenty-five in State; three finished in the top ten (Stowe, Andrew Riche, and Coleman). Stowe placed on first team all parish, and Riche placed on second team all parish. With five of the top eight runners being Juniors, next year's team should be just as successful as this year's team. 0 Big Knights! Knights Take District, Beach Semi-finals Dt State The Knights, who took district with a record of 10-0, ended their outstanding season with an impressive overall record of 30-6. the finals of the Tara tournament a few weeks later. The biggest tournament of the season was the Andrew Jack-son tournament at Tulane. The Knights won their pool, but lost to another major rival, Newman of New Orleans, in the quarter-finals. Success didn't come easy, though. The varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen teams alike endured hours of hard work and practice. Many team members attended various volleyball camps over the summer, but the actual work as a team began in early August under the direction of varsity coach Beverly 1 iise. All the hard work paid off, as everyone discovered at the annual EHS Invitational Tournament. There, the Knights won their pool to advance to the semi-finals. After defeating St. Martins of New Orleans and Episcopal of Aca-diana, they advanced to the finals. The Knights were forced to settle for second place when they finally were defeated by the St. Joseph Red Stickers. At the State Tournament, the volleyball team enjoyed several victories before finally losing to Vanderbilt Catholic-in the semi-finals. Several of our players received special recognition at the Tournament. Named to the All District Team were: Stacey Wimp, 1st team MVP; Fae Foster, 1st team; Meredith Cronan and Nancy Garrett, 2nd team; and Janie Ma-cLauchlan, Honorable Mention.
