for several years the social studies curriculum at Episcopal has not undergone major revision. There became a need for change. Students were bored and history went unnoticed. As head of the department, Mrs. Ann Ritter finalized the changes for the '88 — '89 school year. ft Hew Social Studies Curriculum Our historians ittakc history Priv-illa Brewer Carroll Brown Jack Coco Peter Longeway This year's freshman class studied Civics but next year's will study Modern European History. The 88 — '89 Sophomores will study American History instead of World History. The Juniors this year studied American History but next year's will study Political Theory and Practice. Seniors will still have their choice of electives. The wide range of electives offered to the '88 — '89 senior class were chosen to please everyone. Some electives are for those who want to continue their study of American History with 20th Century American History or those who are capable and wish to acquire college credit by taking a history AP course. On the other hand, students who are tired of: what is the name of that battle? ... who invented the cotton gin? ... who was the next president?, can choose one of two semesters of art history. In the '88 — '89 school year the change will be in progress. After that the social studies curriculum will fall into place.
