To some, math is an unbearable chore; fortunately. Episcopal has the blessing of its teachers. The Great Thinkers: t|,mi Can Count” The math department laughs as they try to figure out Mr. Robinson s monstcrous equasion. Mrs. Johnson has her own special way of teaching math. You don't even know you are learning, said Meliss Campbell. Everyone has their favorite teacher, some love them all. N4rs. Kornegay is great, she makes it easy to understand, said Amy Howel!. Not only does Mrs. Kornegay teach dn Them math, but she also heads Student Life and Discipline. She can often be seen running to class, trying to make i t on time. Episcopal's math program is designed to prepare students for the futur e college years. Courses such as Algebra I and II and geometry help fulfill the plan. The accelerated program, including pre-calculus and A.P. Calcu-las, provides intellectual stimulation for those gifted in math. Introduction to college math and College Algebra and Trigonometry reinforce the skills needed to succeed in college for those who arc weak in the area. Like it or not, math is a must. This year the departments are using some special ways to keep students interested. The upper school Spanish classes got to see Raiders of the Lost Ark in Spanish. The French Classes have been watching current material from French channel 2 TV in Paris. Game shows are another class pleaser. For review, Win, Lose, or Draw and Wheel of Fortune are played.
