Girls’ Track Soars The 1985 Girls' Track Team combined a great group of valuable, experienced seniors with strong underclassmen to form a powerful team. The girls began rigorous training in February, and the season continued through early May. The members of the team remained tough competitors all season long. At the end of the season, ihe girls had set twenty-two personal records and three Varsity T rack records. Candy Collins broke the EIIS long jump record with a 16' 1'h leap. K. C lark, A. Weaver, A. Beckwith, and E. Crow's time of 1:51 set the new 800 meter relay record, and Keeley Clark ran the 200 meter dash in 26.9 seconds for a new record. Seniors Candy Collins, Ellen Crow, and Kelli Thompson competed in the regional meet. Kelli qualified for the state meet. 175

Tennis, Golf, Swimming, and Soccer Offer Variety The tennis team finished the year with a 5-2-3 record. The girls placed third in the league and were cochampions of the region. The boys were co-champions of the league. Sherry Manno also made impressive showings at the state meet. The golf team also had a good year. Mary Anepohl finished seventh in the state tournament, and Henry Giles placed third. Episcopal's highest individual finish ever. Swimming is gaining speed at EHS, too. The girls placed tenth in the state meet, where the boys placed in the top sixteen in the 200 meter medley relay. The team attended more meets than ever, and is a young, growing team. For the first year ever, EHS had a soccer team for the junior high level. Several high school students aided Coach Peter Longeway with the teams. As Episcopal grows, it branches into many directions, including more diversified athletics like tennis, swimming, golf, and soccer.
