1985 Boys’ Track Recaptures District The 1985 EHS Varsity Track Team will be remembered as one of the best teams in the school’s history, if not the best. T he team set a school record for most points scored in a season, 1,096.5, in one of the shortest seasons to date. The team garnered five firsts, two seconds, and two thirds, including a first place in the EHS Invitational for the first time. The Knights also captured the District 9-AA title convincingly, was the runner-up in Region 3-AA, and finished 12th out of 81 in state. Some members of the team brought themselves individual recognition as well. Senior Jay Graham and Senior Jim Corbett each set a pair of school records. Jay cleared the pole vault at 14'7 and finished the 11 Urn hurdles in 15.3 seconds. Jim launched theshot put 53' and threw the discus 150'4 . Jay was the State AA pole vault champion and was the high scorer for the season with 144 points. Senior Steven Montgomery followed with 135, then Jim with 126. Head Coach Claney Duplechin said “The senior leadership and experience provided the enthusiasm that was needed to recapture the district title.” Other seniors that contributed to the team were Neil Abramson, Brian Ainsworth, T om D’Armond, Camp Kaufman, Robert Lvnch, Bruce Weller, and Joe D.
