Girls Race for State The 1984-1985 Girls' Cross Country team’s hard work paid off in a successful season, culminating in the state championships. Coach Becky Tydor led her team to many regular season victories, highlights including first place at the E.H.S. Round Table Run and at the Broadmoor I nvitational. The team then placed first in the district and first in the state, an honor accomplished for the second time in four years. At the state meet. Senior Kelli Thompson placed sixth out of 151 runners with a time of 13:17 on a rugged two mile course. Freshman Julia Robertson placed seventh and Joelle, Clarice, Christy, Michelle, and Erin completed the championship varsity team. Seniors Lead 1985 Basketball Team The EHS Varsity Basketball team started out this season under a new head coach, Andrew Wyly. After a slow start, the Knights finished the year with two final wins against archrivals Trafton and Ascension Catholic. The Knights were led in district in scoring and rebounding by 2nd team alldistrict performer, Rob Sindelar. Senior Neil Abramson led the team in assists and steals, while Senior Joe D. Weldon was the team’s leader in charges taken and blocked shots. Seniors Tom D’ Armond and Flynn Foster led the team in field goal percentage and free throw percentage respectively in district. Four other seniors made contributions in their own way. Sam Field used his excellent ball-handling skills to set up the offense. Versatile Camp Kaufman came off the bench to play either forward, center, or wing when called upon. Rob Caldwell added effective and timely free throw shooting, and Brian Ainsworth intimidated opponents with his hustle and intense style of play. lop J.V. performers also contributed to the team as well.
