A Dream Becomes Reality Boys' Track Wins State The 1983 Boys' Track Team earned the title of district, regional, and state champions. They captured 1st place by forfeit to Southern Lab. Jody Smith was a great contribution to the team throughout the season. Jody was awarded 1983 Outstanding Trackman, after setting a school record in the 200m dash, winning the 800m run at state, and participating on the relay team Other school records were set by Bryan Hathorn in the shot-put and Michael Jackson, high scorer of the season, in the triple jump. Brad Townsend proved himself as Outstanding Distanceman, placing 3rd in the 3200m run at state. Many fine athletes devoted much effort and dedication to one of the most exciting seasons yet! A Step Ahead Girls' Track Team Is Set for Action The Girls' Track Team got off to a strong start by taking first place in their first five meets. The outstanding members of the E.H.S. team that did exceptional jobs in the distance competition were Gwen York, Heidi Claus, and Kelli Thompson. The 400m. relay team of Dunham, Halley, Weller, and Pratka dominated the short distance relay. Other fine performances were given by Emilie Plauche, Aimee Weaver, Laurie Brown, Candy Collins, Meg Lucas, Julie Weaver, and Shelby Seger.
