The National Honor Society has as its purpose to enable the faculty to give recognition to outstanding students and to stimulate respect for scholarship and constructive, responsible work. E.H.S. has been a member of the Society since April, 1972 and its primary purpose is to recognize outstanding scholarship for students in eleventh and twelfth grades. The Altar Guild and Acolytes are newly formed organizations which afford girls and boys a chance to participate in the religious program. By insuring cleanliness and order in the chapel surroundings, especially in the sacristy, they allow the clergy time to handle other functions. This is their first year and they are not fully organized but they feel confident that membership will grow next year. 139
