The second round held some surprisesg a slump hit the team and they were badly defeated by Brusly in their gym, and by St. john at home. St. john turned out to be the barrier between the Knights and a playoff berth. Everyone showed up for the game and victory was ours by four points. We were on our way to fight Chaneyville at Baker, which proved to be a tough Friday night match. The Knights fought hard, but came away with a disappointing defeat. The J-Vees played well all season, ending with a 16-4 record, almost as good as the Varsity record of 22-11. This year, the Knights opened their season with a new changegjeff Taylor had taken the coaching position and everyone was anxious to see how the team would adjust. The pre-season games actually served as incentive for five individuals to work as a team before district play. For the first season in the Knight's history, they heat two Quad A schools: East Ascension and Assumption. The Knight's record at the end of pre-district play was 14 and 7. The Knights faced much tough competition in the future. They were predicted to place third in district after Brusly and St. john, but the team felt there was only one team to beat, Brusly. Excitement picked up when we lost to Brusly by only three points, and won a close victory against U-High at the Assembly Center. 130
