THE CLOISTERETTE STAFF In October the Cloisterette StaFf, under the capable direction of Pat Sweigart, editor-in-chief, and her associate editors, Joanna Shreiner and Ann Homsher, was formed. At the first staff meeting, a new and com- pletely different theme was chosen, that of a play. The staff was composed of five separate units, which worked conscientiously to produce a successful yearbook. The literary staff, under the direction of Gail Bolster, composed the senior write-ups, sports, activity and class write-ups, and class features. After the material was checked by the literary editor, and revisions were made, the typists transcribed the work into neat copies. The business staff, headed by Larry Loose, worked hard to help finance the yearbook. They spent much time soliciting donations from the businessmen, and also handling the sales of the yearbook. Sharon Reddig and Marie Deibler, with the aid of Mrs. Betty Fridinger, designed and sketched each sectional divider and additional art work. The staff photographers, Bill Rhorbach and Raymond Stauffer, were seen taking action shots at sports events and other school activities. The editors, supported by the entire staff, and advised by Miss Phyllis Goodman, did their best, and hope to have succeeded in bringing you an outstanding yearbook. Their activities consisted of conducting the Red Cross Drive, the Tuberculosis Campaign, and taking charge of the opening exercises in chapel. They were also kept busy with many suggestions received from the various conventions. Larry Loose, Muriel Myer, Pat Sweigart, and Ken Sensenig were chosen as representatives to the county convention at Hempfield High School. Those attending the safety convention at Millersville were Ann Homsher, Lee Wilhelm, Barbara Foltz, Barry Burkholder, Marlene Royer, and Andy Miller. Two new proiects taken on this year were the naming of a Good Citizen of the Month and the crowning of a Sir Valentine. The good citi- zens, carefully watched during school by the members of the Student Council, were given gold Good Citizen pins in assembly programs. Sir Valentine was crowned in assembly and also at the school dance, February 22. All pennies used in the voting were sent to the Heart Haven. The officers for this year's council were Larry Loose, president, Pat Sweigart, corresponding secretary, Ann Homsher, recording secretary, Lee Wilhelm, treasurer, and Jesse Wolf, sergeant- at-arms. Seniors in this group are Muriel Myer, Ann Homsher, Pat Sweigart, Carl Matin, Larry Loose, Ken Sensenig, and Lee Wilhelm. ACTORS CLASS HISTORY- PROLOGUE In September, 1953, we, the class cf 1957, eagerly entered Frata High, look- ing forward to meeting the many new students who would share our last four years of school. The main event of the year was our Freshman Party which was thoroughly enioyed by all. Muriel Myer and Larry Loose represented us on the Student Council. Returning as scphomcres, we held our first electicn cf officers. Our presi- dent was Claude Lynch, vice-president, Tom Eraman, secretary, Paula Flory, and treasurer, Myron Fasnacht. Our Student Council representatives were again Muriel Myer and Larry Loose. As iuniors we elected our class officers as follows: president, Larry Loose, vice-president, Claude Lynch, secretary, Paula Flory, and treasurer, Bob McCoy. Sally Lied, Sara Risser, Carl Martin, and Lee Wilhelm were the Student Council representatives. Chosen as our class colors were baby blue and white. As hosts to the seniors at the prom on May 4, we chose the theme, Rhapsody ln Blue. ln the fall of 1956 we entered E. H. S. for the final step of our high school career. We knew the time would quickly fly by, and we would soon go our sep- arate ways. Larry Loose was again chosen our president, Darryl Sensenig, vice- president, Paula Flory, secretary, and Bill Rohrbach, treasurer. As repesentatives to the Student Council we selected Ann Homsher, Muriel Myer, Pat Sweigart, Carl Martin, Ken Sensenig, and Lee Wilhelm. For the first time in history, Ephrata High had an undefeated football team, and as seniors we were proud to have nine of our fellows in the starting line-up. On May 3, we were entertained by the juniors at the prom. With Baccalaureate, Class Day, and Commencement exercises over, we set out to fulfill our dreams and ambitions, never forgetting the essential part of our growing-up spent in Ephrata High School. 12 CLASS OFFICERS PRINCIPAL CHARACTERS Firsf Row Cl. to r.J-W. CLASS PROPHECY - EPILOGUE As we, the class of 1957, see the doors of our school days close behind us, we look hesitantly toward the responsibilities of our future lives. What shall we do with our lives? Will we use the knowledge we have gained in the past twelve years to our greatest advantage? We, independently launching our careers, will no longer have our teachers and parents to counsel us. Instead we must choose new friends, follow new paths, and make our own decisions. Some of us will enter into the business world as salesmen or apprentices to large concerns. Perhaps a few of the more ambitious of these will later run their own businesses, or advance to become executives in their chosen careers. Many girls will enter the secretarial field, choosing from a limitless variety of jobs. Those who continue their education, either in college or a university, will have to wait for several years before start- ing on their own. From our class this group will probably include many teachers, homemakers, lawyers, engineers, musicians, artists, and some who will make social service their career. ln the field of medi- cine, our class will certainly produce many skilled doctors, nurses, sci- entists, dentists, technologists, and medical secretaries. Of course, there will be many entering the armed forces, protecting the future for all of us. Together we have striven toward a common goal, Graduation Day, but now we shall all seek our individual goals, with the memories of our high school days, both happy and sad, firmly implanted in our minds. 46 THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF THE ACTORS We, the much esteemed and honorable class cf nineteen hundred and fifty-seven, in sound possession of our minds and bodies, with most of our earthly life before us, do hereby proclaim, Marie Deibler's artistic ability to Barry Crowther. At both ends ofthe gym were patios with benches, tables, and flowers, all enclosed in low, white fences. They included Gail Bolster, clarinet, Marty Burkholder, clarinet, Ann Homsher, Eb saxophone, and Alfred Zinn, bass drum. We also had five representatives to District Band.
