Marian Fleming Liz Green Darrell Miller Back: Jeanie Schultz Front: Becky Schneider PRESIDENT Scott Munns VICE PRESIDENT Don Grokenberger ORGANIZATIONS What are Organizations? Organizations are the clubs and groups which are responsible for the social projects and student government of school life. 81 STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT When I think of having beei elected Student Body Presi dent of Enterprise H i g k School, the first emotion tha| moves me is gratefulness. It is a very thrilling position you have chosen me to serve, at once an honor and a challenge. I am flattered by the honor and exhila rated by the challenge. I don't believe that a person can rightfully ask for more out of life than opportunity and this is a fertile oppor tunity. It is an opportunity to fulfill some of the obliga- tions I owe to society. I hope that I have been successful Sometimes we tend to lose sight of the value of student government. Can you imag. ine how dull our school life would be without it? Think of it; no dances, rallies, car parades, election cam paigns, or any of the other student-run events would be available to members of the student body. Student gov ernment is based on the principle that if students want to enjoy these activi ties, they are obligated to plan, organize, and run them. In other words, serv ice, in student government in some forms is an obliga- tion to every student who attends a dance, cheers at a rally, enters a car parade, votes for a candidate, or in any way takes advantage of such activities. The greater responsibility a person ac cepts for these activities, the greater is the challenge and the opportunity to accom- plish what he values. I therefore urge everyone in this school to assess his ob ligations to the school, a n d to plan next year to hold an of- fice, or to serve in a committee, or to invent some opportu nity to better the school. I am convinced you will find enjoy ment and satis- faction. NAL ACTION Fullback Warren Robinson brushes by Central Valley rockier. The Hornets had no trouble defeating the last place Central Valley Falcons. Re- bounding from a defeat the previous week. Enterprise soon turned the game into a riot. When the final gun sounded, Enterprise had racked up 39 points to the Falcon's 7. Rick Walsh is stopped by a Chico tockler The Enterprise Hornets lost their first N.A.L. game in their clash with Chico. Enterprise was not able to get their offense rolling while Chico, taking advantage of Enterprise's mistakes, scored in the first half and went on to win by a slim 6-0 margin. 118 Carl Lee picks off pass amidst Anderson defenders. The Hornets started their regular season play by over- coming Anderson in a closer-than-expected game. Enterprise held the Cubs scoreless while tallying only 6 points against a tough Anderson defense. Defensive safety Mike Wooding, brings down a Chico receiver. Warren Robinson gong tockled by Red Bluff. Red Bluff boll corner brought down by Rick Wolsfi. Scott Brown picks up yardage around right end. Rick Walsh snags poss out of Red Bluff defender $ hands. The Enterprise-Red Bluff game was the hardest- fought and most exciting game of the season. The Hornets repeatedly penetrated deep into Red Bluff territory, only to lose the ball on downs or fumbles. Although beaten on the scoreboard. Enterprise proved itself the better team on the field. Carl lee making shoe string tackle Ion Shasta boll carrterl. The traditional Enterprise-Shasta game was a dis- appointment to Hornet fans. Enterprise coming into the game with an outstanding defensive record gave up 28 points to the fired up Wolves, while scoring 18 themselves. Steve Wmn SENIOR Carl Lee Alan O Neil Jerry Shirley M ' I WE MUST We must never forget the long and hot practice sessions without a cool drink of water—the lashing wind and rain stinging our bruised faces—tackling a hard hitting back'on o miserable cold day—unpiling from beneath a ton of sweating flesh in a foot of mud—the coach saying despairingly, O K. gang, just one more play and —thirty plays later we re still banging our heads trying to make it go. We must never forget the sleepless nights before the games—the butterflies that always took over in the locker room—the coach telling us we re just as tough as anybody else (except, why did the programs always say they were so much bigger and faster?) We must never forget our mouths, dry as cotton, waiting for that darned ball to be kicked off—sitting on the bench—waiting for our names to be called, hoping, sometimes resentful, that they weren't. During the three weeks of campaigning, students wore buttons, and displayed stickers. Large posters were hung from one end of the cafeteria to the other. His- tory class bulletin boards were covered with signs, pictures, and pamphlets. At end of three weeks, an assembly was held. The representa- tives from each party spoke on the issues.
