PRI CIPAUS MESSAGE gh we can point to numerous accomplish- ments of individuals and groups among our students and faculty during the past three years, essentially our accomplishment as a school has been to over- come the problem of newness and to gain a posi- tion of honor and prestige for Enterprise High School. We have probably enjoyed more success than would normally come to a new school. During the next few years, however, we shall begin to face a different kind of problem. This is the problem of bigness. The new construction that is now under way will make Enterprise a big school. In a school, as in a city or a nation, the problems of living together increase in number and complexity as the population increases. As we grow into a school of a thousand or more students, we ,Q shall need more than ever before a student govern- ment that can act forcefully and with a deep sense of iustice and responsibility. There will be in a big school more factions, more arguments, more com- petition, and particularly there will be more people that we do not know. With the larger enrollment we may tend to neg- lect individuals just because we don't know them. Those individuals, in turn, may tend to become in- different about their school because they do not feel that they are really an important part of it. That is a serious danger in a big school. I hope that through your continued good faith and good deeds, we can avoid this danger so that we shall become not only a big school, but a good one. CHARLES F. DENNY Mr. Denny points out future additions, 9
