During this past year, Mr. Ash has had many duties. The most important was leader of student activities. He has helped start many traditions. We sincerely appreciate his untiring efforts and unfail- ing enthusiasm, which have helped to make our school a success. To Mr. Ash, then, who has so wisely guided the student body affairs of Enterprise High School for the last two years and has endeared himself to every student, we, the yearbook staff, in behalf of the Student Body, dedicate the second edition of the VESPA.

SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE The trustees governing the Shasta Union High School District, of which Enterprise High School is a pan, are elected by the people of the district. These elected officials hold in uust the responsibility of providing the opportunity for an adequate high school education for all the youth of the community. We believe this trust has been discharged well, as evidenced by the fine school plant, the choice faculty, and the excellent classroom equipment that have been provided. In a broader sense, the students who are fortunate enough to be the first to use these fine facilities and receive instruction from this ca- pable faculty are themselves trustees of the school. They hold in trust the responsibility of establishing a school characterized by high stand- ards of scholarship, good sportsmanship, dynamic school spirit, and worthy pupil citizenship. The reputation by which Enterprise High School shall be known in the years ahead is being molded by you. Now the traditions to be followed by your younger brothers and sisters are now being established. You are giving the school its personality. “ You are, in effect, student-trustees of Enterprise High School. I am pleased to note the kind of reputation and the kind of per- sonality your school is developing. It is charming. It is such that you are worthy of receiving approbation. I am pleased to be sharing this growth and development and this responsibility with you, for I feel you are doing your part well. -Jackson Price PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE The record of our second year is not entirely contained within these pages. It must be surveyed in the opinions of our contemporaries and in our own candid recognition of both our accomplishments and our shortcomings. We can take pride, for example, in our constitution, which has been formulated slowly and democratically through dis- cussion, analysis and review by all who would be governed willingly and fairly. We have elected responsible and competent student of- ficers. We have gained noticeable confidence in ourselves, our youth- ful traditions, and our ideals. We have learned by experiment that respect for the rights of the individual is compatible with co-operative endeavor, social progress, and self-government. Our shortcomings are many. Our opportunities for improvement, which is but another term for education, are unlimited. But our faith is, we believe, equal to the continuing challenge that lies ahead. -Charles F. Denny
