YEARBOOK AT ENTERPRISE After a number of years of planning and effort. Enterprise High School is now a living reality. I am very proud of the school and happy to have shared in creating it. This is particularly true because of the high quality this new institution is judged to possess. Through the generosity of your parents and friends, we have made a beautiful plant available to you. You, in turn, have justified this gift by the traditions you have begun to create—traditions which typify a high quality of school citizenship. Part of the responsibility for this praiseworthy pro- gram is shared by your faculty, which, as you know and as do I, is a very good one. Your teachers and principal and you have made a team that has, in fact, won a championship. I hope and believe that as your school expands to include all four grades, you will continue to develop the same quality of student body that now characterizes your school. We shall continue to watch your growth with much interest and satisfaction. There will come a time, of course, when Enterprise High chool will be very old and well-known. The Black and Gold will iave marched down many years, across many goal lines on both . »thletic and academic fields of endeavor. Many persons will iave entered our halls timidly as Freshmen and four years later will have graduated hopefully into a world increasingly complex and infinitely interesting. Of these a curious few, the historians, will be interested to re- examine this antiquated record of our first year, to evaluate the significance of our present deeds and words, and to observe the ofluence that we, the students and faculty, may have exerted pon the enduring character and personality of our school. To them I would report: We have tried to establish freedom and honor together as the basis of our self-government and self-respect. We have recog- nized that without honor, democracy cannot survive, and that without democracy, freedom shall perish. We have affirmed our faith in factual knowledge as the only sound basis for judgment, and in kindiness, integrity and industry rs guides for living and working happily in the years ahead. CHARLES F. DENNY 3
