STAFF Boys' Physical Education Boys' P. E. classes enjoyed a variety of Science sports. Touch football was a favorite of B.S. Auburn most. As sponsor of die Booster Club, Mr. Hawkins helped Booster members operate the store at recess and dinner periods. He was also chaperon for the Booster’s annual beach trip. MRS. CAROLYN HARRIS This Senior 1 English class enjoyed its studies in literature. Silas Marner by George Eliot was a favorite of the class. ■ English B.S. Troy M.A. Auburn Mrs. Harris was the 1955-56 sponsor of the NHS. In order to make money for its annual scholarship fund, the society sold blue books for mid-term and final exams. As a class activity, this Junior II English class made poetry booklets. MISS MARY MAC CHANCY Junior High A.B. Huntingdon Miss Chancy sponsored the NJHS. The society had as one of its projects this year to recognize honor roll students in Junior High each six weeks by pinning on honor roll ribbons.

STAFF In solid geometry, curious geometrical structures were dissected as the students learned to compute their areas and volumes. MRS. THELMA MARTIN Many hours of after school drill went into the preparation for halftime shows at ten football games. This Mexican hat for- mation was a favorite of the fans. Mathematics, Physics B.S. Auburn On Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week physics students conducted lab. This is the apparatus used by the students in distilling water. MR. ERNEST THREADGILL Band Director B.S. Troy As concert season drew near, melodious strains of concert music floated from the band room. MRS. ROBERTA TOMBERLIN English B.S., M.A. University of Alabama As a project of her Senior English class, Mrs. Tomberlin directed an American Education Week skit over radio station WIRB. Junior and Senior students checked out books for reports from the library in Mrs. Tomberlin's room.

STAFF MISS MARY RUTH LEWIS Glee Club, Junior High B.M. Chicago College of Music These members of the glee club deco- rated the stage for their annual Christmas program. In Junior I English classes, the student librarians checked out library books in their homerooms. Home Economics students enjoyed cooking, for whatever was cooked must also be eaten. These students probed into the mysteries of higher math as they began studying geometric figures.
