CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION Side By Side The members of the Enterprise Board of Education are Dr. J. S. DuBois, Mr. J. R. Snellgrove, Mr. I. H. Sessions, Mr. D. H. Rollins, Mr. J. H. Bromberg, and Mr. H. M. Bryson. SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE NEW AND OLD—Our attention is constantly being directed toward the age old and never ending conflict betwen the new and the old. This is the natural and logical process; without the new replacing the old there would be no growth and development. It is interesting, however, to observe how the process sometimes works. The new car, the new furniture, and the new lamp all push the old ones into the back- ground. Sooner or later many re-appear more valuable than they were originally. A parallel is seen in people and ideas. Youth comes along with new methods and ideas which he thinks are superior to those of his predecessor. The parallel goes further because those shelved ideas and methods often re-appear more valuable than once considered. Basically these are the old ideas revital- ized with a contemporary vitamin. As a result the new will be tempered with the old. It is interesting to note for a long time leaders in varied activities have been practicing these pro- cedures which produce a better and stronger product. That which is genuinely and basically good will remain that way regardless of time. May we carry forward all of that which is good in the old and add if to that which is good in the new. Thus tempered, is is our belief that the new will function to the best advantage for the greatest number. J. R. Snellgrove Superintendent
