OLD SCENES OF CITY Right: First city water well for the city of Enterprise. Located on the site of the present stand pipe, it was just a few yards from a cotton gin located on the site where Peacock-Warren MotorCo. is now. In the background can be seen a few shacks for colored located approximately where the Pure Oil Service Station is today. This well was put into operation in 1903 or 1904. Left; This is how peanuts were handled about the time when the Boll Weevil Monument was completed. All these wagons are bringing their peanuts to Rawls Warehouse. In the back- ground is the present Masonic Building. Right; This is the Enterprise Gin and Warehouse Co. in 1908 with all hands weighing cotton on Main Street. In the height of the cotton season, the Main Street was jammed with cotton from the present Baptist Church to the Methodist and up the many side streets also. Left: Enterprise's first band pictured in front of the high school building which burned in 1912.
