The purpose underlying this volume has been to preserve a record of the days spent at Coffee County High School, that the memories of the past may not be lost in dreams of the future. The most fabulous chests of all times are those of the pirates, thus we have turned to them for our art work. If you should glance through these pages again, and they should refresh the pleasant memories of your school days spent here, we will consider our purpose accomplished, our work a success. hEF.DF.R Mrs. J. W. Reeder has been a loyal member of the Coffee County High School faculty for eight years. During that time she has demonstrated her versatility in many fields of activity. For the past three years she has served as one of the sponsors for the ENCOALA. In addition to her work with the yearbook, Mrs. Reeder has been faculty sponsor for the “Cup 0’ Coffee,” the school paper, for the past two years. Because of her untiring efforts and her willing- ness to make this yearbook one of the best ever, we gratefully dedicate this 1952 edition to Mrs. J. W. The STUDENT COUNCIL was reorganized this year under the direction of Mr. R. L. Bates and Mrs. Kathryne White, the faculty sponsor. Its members are the class officers for the four senior high grades. This year, having just been organized, the Student Council has tried to help the school in every way possible. The mem- bers devised a means of helping “Traffic” in the halls by marking certain stairs for up and certain ones for down. The Student Council sponsored a drive at school to send boxes for foreign relief. It also got boxes of food for the local welfare de- partment in a school drive. Both of these projects were very successful. The Council submitted nominations for candidates for Armed Forces Day Queen and the Ameri- can Legion Good Citizenship Awards. The NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY was organized in 1950. The club has the same cardinal principles as the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leader- ship, Character, and Service. Their programs this year have been on the United Nations. Mullins Mynard Oliver Membership in the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY is based on the four principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. Each year the National Honor Society gives one hundred dollars to a deserving senior to help further his educa- tion. It sponsors book drives for the school library. It gives ribbons of the National Honor Society colors to all students making first honor roll during each six weeks period. The local chapter was founded in 1927.
