Mrs. Peggy English, our school secretary, is also in charge of all office assistants. Enka's own Grand Central Station is Mr. Tomberlin's of- fice, the center of all activity. Here teachers and pupils alike come to confer with him on the wisdom and legal ity ofwhatever proiects they have planned. Our office assistants are in charge of answering the phone, running errands for Mr. Tom- berlin, and collecting absences from the different rooms. Office assistants busy themselves by checking absences on the 'phone and by checking the sign-out lists. James, Mertis, and Nerissa await their turn as Gladys finishes her typing. IO9
