DISTINGUISHED nn-mht-rs of the audience at tht- dedication liartletlt, and members of the school hoard, who listen as Mr. of the new O. T. Autry Vocational-Technical School include Nlr. Autry speaks. The dedication, lu-ld October 8, 1967, ranked Stanley Jenkins, vict--principal of Enid High, Governor Dewey state-wide in interest and importance. Community Benefits From Autry Dedication Nlli. O. T. Xli't'ltN , Strpt-r'internlt-nt of Sf-hoo Always a familiar and welcome face at Enid High was that of O. T. Autry, superintendent of the Enid School System. For lVlr. Autry, 1968 was a year of many additions and changes. Well within the limits of his many and varied interests was the U. T. Autry Vocational Techni- cal School. Named in honor of him, the school was completed last summer and opened lor classes in the fall semester of l967. Located north of Enid, the school served stu- dents from the surrounding area as well as those from Enid High School. It offered twenty- one courses, ranging from auto mechanics to data processing. Not only high school students henelited from this school, hut also graduate students and adults. This yearis enrollment was approximately 1150, which was within the school's capacity .for service. But, ever with an eye to the future, lVlr. Autry and the school hoard provided for growth. Stated lVlr. Autry, HShonld the need for expan- sion lmecome a reality, the physical building can make the change easilyf' The huilding was con- structed so that when addition is needed, it will not require complete reliuilding or even re- modeling. The stated purpose ol' the school was to give Enid High School a halanced curriculum, suit- alile to the needs of every student. But in view of the fact that it helped also adults and grad- uates, the school was a valuable addition, not only to EHS hut to Northwest Uklahoma.

Gene lVlauk provided excellent leadership that kept the spot- light fovused on Enid High School in 1968. His dynamic: personality welded the favulty into a united group which supported him in all things. His casual manner, a friendliness yet Hrmness toward students, was a part of his popularity. Although Wir. Mauk was new to the position ol principal, he was not new to Enid High School, having served three years assistant principal and four years as a classroom teacher. These past positions provided him with the necessary experience to fulfill the duties and responsibilities connected with the principalship of Enid High School. He received his Bachelor of Scienve Degree from Phillips University and his Masters in Edn- Cational Administration from Oklahoma Stale University. He is married and has four children. This year initiated a second assistant principal. This addition aided the principal and allowed him more time to fulfill his responsiliilities and assist in the instructional program.
