Webb leads by tactful but firm suggestion Marking the second year as principal of E.H.S., Mr. Jack Webb recalled fun and advancements in the 1965-1966 school term. Mr. Webb worked conscientiously throughout the year with all faculty members. His pleasing person¬ ality and eagerness to help made him popular with teachers and students. The beginning of the year was marked by the vic¬ tory of the state football championship for the second consecutive year, a feat never before duplicated. E.H.S. soared high in student awards and group achievements in the various competitions throughout the year. In March, the North Central Visitation Committee toured Enid High. A committee representing the North Central Association visits member schools or schools desiring membership every seven years to determine whether standards set by the association are being met. The second year as principal proved quite eventful for Mr. Webb, and under his careful guidance and lead¬ ership, students prospered. As the year drew to a close, Enid High glowed in the bright light of an outstand¬ ing academic year. THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL year Mr. Jack Webb wisely directs curriculums and activities. GENE MAUK AND Dal New¬ som rehash golf scores which Jack Webb apparently questions. lO

Dynamic superintendent heads Enid schools Throughout the school year many innovations in education were initiated into the Enid school system through the efforts of Mr. O. T. Autry, school super¬ intendent. Due to his progressive planning, elementary education and adult training greatly advanced. This year Enid voters overwhelmingly approved the building of a vocational-technical school to better bal¬ ance the curriculum for students wishing on-the-job training or supplementary vocations. This school was available for students outside of the Enid district and adults wishing retraining. Members of the Board of Education voted unani¬ mously in their May 3 meeting to name the new voca¬ tional-technical school, The O. T. Autry Vocational- Technical Center. Mr. Autry was also responsible for the new person¬ nel added to the school program. Three registered nurses divided their time between the twenty-three Enid Schools. An elementary counselor and a speech therapist were added for grade school children. Chero¬ kee Park Special Education School and adult educa¬ tion completed the extensive school plan. As his second year as superintendent of schools passed, Mr. Autry saw preliminary plans of the begin¬ ning put into reality. MR. O. T. AUTRY, school su¬ perintendent, initiates many ideas into Enid’s school curriculum. MR. AUTRY speaks with Leon¬ ard White, Blackwell, Allen Rob¬ son, Ponca City, Tom Sullivan, Stillwater, Oklahoma State De¬ partment, concerning Title I. 9

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT PLAYS an important role in rectors, Mr. Jere Gigoux, Mrs. Betty Rohla, Mr. Don Bloom carrying out school testing programs and placement with di- and Mrs. Nelle McCreary. Mauk diligently serves to fullest extent With a clear understanding of problems at hand and a willingness to find the solutions, Mr. Eugene Mauk began the 1965-66 term with vivid anticipation and optimism. Being assistant principal at Enid High School car¬ ried with it varied duties. Mr. Mauk served students with counseling and a sympathetic ear. He organized schedules and worked closely with Mr. Webb and members of the guidance department. Mr. Mauk was born in Enid and returned here to complete his schooling at Phillips University, graduat¬ ing with a B.S. degree in Science. While teaching in Enid he returned to Oklahoma State University to receive his master’s degree in Education Administra¬ tion. Summertime drew Mr. Mauk and his family to the beauty of Oklahoma outdoors and nearby lakes and resorts where they could exercise their love for water skiing and boating. Love for his students and a remarkable sense of fair play made Mr. Mauk popular with students and teachers alike. Mr. Mauk marked the second year of his assistant principalship a success. MR. GENE MAUK, assistant principal, devotes many hours to students. 11
