ENID HIGH Scnooi. MR. DEWITT' VVALLER, Superintendent., xecufives By io ANN WAGNER The city of Enid possesses two of the finest educators' in the entire nation. Due to the unceasing ellorts of lVlr. DeVVitt Wz1llc'i', superintendent, we have one of the most efficient and smoothest running school systems there is. And, likewise, due to the untiring energy of Mr. D. Bruce Selby, principal, Enid High School is one of the outstanding high schools in the state. We-ll known for his participation in youth activities Mr, Waller takes an active part in all school and civic organizations. A very ardent fan of all the Plainsmen's activities, Mr. VVallcr is very interested in the sports field. Not only active in civic and state affairs, lvir. Waller' also belongs to a number of national organizations. He is recognized as one of the leading educators in Oklahoma. Enid has received wide commendation in recent years on the reading and correlated activities program of the Elementary Schools to which Mi'. Waillc'i' has devoted a great amount of time both in directing the pro- gram and in conference with educators from recognized schools. Likewise the Iunior High School curricu- lum under the direction of Mr. Waller has made noticeable academic progress. The academic efliciency of both the Ele- mentary and the Iunior High Schools is readily evident at the high school level, and Enid High School's record for fitting stu- dents for efficient service in business or in positions of academic recognition in universi- ties both within the state and in leading institutions of higher learning throughout the United States, is well known. This seems to bear out the scholarship 5 Mi'. Wallc'r has and wishes to see main- tained throughout the schools. Maiiy numerous duties make lVlr. Wallet' one of the busiest men in Enid. He carries out a school program for fifteen grade SC hools, two of which are under construction, Emerson Iunior High and Longfellow lunior High Schools, and Booker T. VVashington, but his modest graciousness and winning smile gives you the feeling that he has all the time in the world just for you. A graduate of Oklahoma City University, Mi'. Waller' came to Enid in l9ll as an athletic coach, chemistry and mathematics instructor. Principal of Enid High School fr om l9l5 to I934 he became superintendent in l934, the position he now holds. Nlr. Waller' has two children, lVlarilyn and Barbara. He is also very proud of his two grandchildren, David and Doug. A native Kentuckian, Mr. D. Bruce Selby moved to Oklahoma at a very early age. After graduating from Kingfisher High School in 1918, Nlr, Selby came to Enid l W mere he entered Phillips University. ln l924 Mir. Selby came into the Enid school system to teach science and coach basketball. Four years later he became principal of Longfellow lunior High School, ll position he held until I934 when he be- came principal of Enid High School. A member of the State and National Edu- cational Profession for more than twenty-five years, Nlr. Selby has just completed his third term on the State Committee of the North Central Association. During the past two years he has attended the North Central Association meeting in Chicago, lllinois, and the National Federation of High School A tllletics at Santa hflonica, California, and lVlobile, Alabama. At the present time he is a member on the Board of Control of the QContinued on Page oflj 1 1 -a. S . -,W V5 sg, . .L ty I ' ,,g2q:.:g.a 3 ' Z3 'K ,g s?fW'.2f i U 1? i, - 4 saggy I-195 aa?
