I m now being asked to let go of you, and I m left with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I m very excited that each and every one of you has survived and achieved to the point that you are now graduates of English High School. This is a tremendous accomplishment. On the other hand, I also feel a great loss, knowing that you II move out of my life and move onto your new challenges. You ve all meant a great deal to me. I only hope you know how much you ve contributed to my life, as I ve tried to contritjute to yours, in some small way. You really have so much to be proud of. You have outlasted many of your peers, in your struggle to earn a diploma. You ve overcome innumerable obstacles in making it to this point, and you ' ve risen to the occasion, time and time again. Most importantly, you ve grown to the point that you re ready to make your mark, as individuals, and as members of your community. However, now is now the time to bathe in your success, or to lose sight of the future, and the opportunities that are available to you, if you ' ll allow them to be. You will be as great as your sights will allow, so set those sights high, and accept nothing but the best for yourselves. You are beautiful, courageous men and women, and you owe it to those of us you leave behind, those you have yet to meet, and most importantly, you owe it to yourselves to be your very best, in whatever you choose to do. Accept your greatness, accept your responsibilities to yourself and to others. Take a bold step out of adolesc ence, contribute, and seek to make a difference in the lives of everyone you come in contact with. f ' or now, I have to say a somewhat reluctant goodbye. I do hope that you II take the time to return, even for a moment, to let all of us know how well you ' re doing. On behalf of the whole staff, we II miss you, and we II be forever proud of you. Cjo with pride; go with respect; and go with determination! best of luck, and best wishes always! 4 I The English High School Alma Mater Air: Maryland, My Maryland Alma Mater, tried and true Englisti High, our English High: Oft our hearts shall turn to you English High, our English High; Should e er the laurel wreath be mine. I II lay the honor at the shrine. Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers are thine. English High, our English High; Lift Every Voice And Sing Lift every voice and sing Till earth and Heaven ring. King with the harmonies of liberty; Let our rejoicing rise High as the list ning skies, l,et it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us; Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us facing the rising sun Of our new day begun. Let us march on till victory is won. Men may come and men may go, English High, our English High; Yet in deep and peaceful flow, English f1igh, our English High; Shall thy stream of learning wide.
