Corscadden Senior Class Advisor In the role as advisor to your class, oftentimes I only saw the problem student and perhaps missed the personal acquaintance of the greater part of the class. This does not mean however, that your senior year and your participation in it went unnoticed by myself or your school. Your entire senior year seemed to be one of trying and challenging circumstances. From student demonstrations through the teacher strike, it seemed that any intentions we had or planned to have as a class never could materialize. The tension of today’s world, the cry of your generation for involvement, its concern for equality for all groups, and certainly the continuing quest for peace, combined to make your senior year, one of awareness and concern. And when you look back upon this year, you will have mixed feelings. Some may even feel cheated because we couldn’t have many class activities, but each of you will be able to say that it was a unique, collective learning experience, and English High, as a vital center of activity, was The place to be.” May each of you perpetuate the feeling of awareness and involvement” of which you were a part here. My best to the Class of 1970. Sincerely, James B. Corscadden Class Advisor Working with the Class of 1970 as they sought an education has been an education for me. Assuming the role of advisor in mid October, I found myself totally inexperienced in coping with the problems of a Senior Class. Members of the class rallied to my assistance. With their cooperation, knowledge and ex¬ periences they made it possible for me to fulfill the role of advisor. This introduction to my message is to emphasize the fact that one’s education never stops nor is com¬ pleted. As you go forth from EHS and are exposed to new situations, remember that each of these experi¬ ences offers you the opportunity to gain new know¬ ledge. By taking advantage of these opportunities for knowledge you will become a better educated man and be of greater value to yourself and those about you. Christopher P. Assistant ibaii Master ' s Message The Class of 1970 is to be congratulated on its excellent record at the English High School. The turbulence, unrest and social changes occurring in the world outside, not only have exerted a marked influence on the individual careers of the members of the class, but have also served to unite them in bonds of mutual respect and understanding. All of you are fortunate to be entering upon a new era for young Americans. The future is indeed bright for all who are able and willing to apply themselves diligently to their chosen vocations. For this struggle you could have no better preparation than the education and training which you have received here at The English High School.
