M. As Head Master I welcome the opportunity which the publication of your Year Book presents to extend to the members of the Class of 1967, individually and collectively, the best wishes of the faculty and the alumni. June brings to a close four years of successful scholastic endeavor, years during which you have had the opportunity to become better prepared for the tasks that lie ahead. Many of you will go on to the college of your choice, others will become engaged in worthwhile en- deavors in the business world, while still others will be engaged in military service even before this book comes off the press. Yours has been a good class and, in many ways, an excellent one. As such it will be well remembered by faculty and students alike. It has endeavored to make the most of the opportunities for scholarship, service, and leadership which a large school such as ours presents. All of you have found in the spirit of English High, I am sure, an ideal of service to mankind which will be a powerful influence for good in all your future endeavors. You have learned that those who give generously of themselves gain immeasurably in return. Whatever your lot in life may be, you have been encouraged by precept and example to give to each day’s task your best effort, to find a satisfaction in the pursuit of excellence, and to measure up to the challenges and meet the responsibilities that will be yours in a demo- cratic society. If you will but continue in your pursuit of excellence to develop the essential good that lies within you, you will become a man of honor and achievement through service to city, state, and nation in keeping with the fine tradition of your school. M e aae T As Assistant Head Master of The English High School, I welcome this op- portunity to extend my cordial best wishes for future success to the Class of 1967. In these competitive and troubled times, today’s high school graduate is faced with college, service or full-time employment. In each of these diversified areas, you will compete with other young men, capable and qualified, as ou strive for advancement. May your efforts at English High School hold you in good stead in your chosen field. As the men of the Class of 1967 depart on their separate ways, they leave with the cherished memories of their years spent at The English High School and the challenge of our school’s aims — to become men of Honor and Achievement. The fulfillment of this objective rests in the minds and hearts of each and everyone of you. This is the challenge of America today. This is the heritage of an English High School graduate. This is the solemn trust and obligation passed on for al- most a century and a half to English High School men. These times call for clear thinking, for decisive action, and for perserverance.
