Class A mls FRESHMAN ANNALS Early in September of 1962, we, the class of 1966, entered the English High School Freshman Annex, ready to start an experience we shall never forget. Our first obstacle was our sweet-souled acting Head Master, Mr. Gillis. Mr. Gillis was very strict, and we had to keep our noses in our books all during the year. In October the situation in Cuba nearly brought us to war with the U.S.S.R. President Kennedy issued an ultimatum to Russia to either get out of Cuba or fight! To our relief Russia backed down. A small scale war in Vietnam kept getting big- ger and bigger, and some of us were thinking of the possibility of having to serve our country on the battlefield. Then in November came our first major school event - THE ENGLISH - Latin GAME. We smashed the team from across the street 32-6. It was a very fitting end for our undefeated football season. It was our second straight unblemished season. The team almost got the chance to go to the Orange Bowl. Our record was high-lighted by our 22-0 win over our ancient rival Groton. The rest of our athletic teams were not so lucky. Next we were hit by the NEDT tests. Of course we scored very high scores. Although we were E.H.S. students we felt left out of things, and we all looked forward to next year when we could enter the main building. Sir, how can I go to college?
