TRACK We of Boston English hcrve long been known to be the top track power in this neck of the woods. This year certainly proved to be no exception. Our crack Relay Team of Thomas, Ellis, Tatum and Allen, broke two ancient relay marks that totaled 48 years in standing! One of these being the Reggies in which we lost the meet by a 1 point margin due to a baton dropping incident to rival Latin School. The other mark was set at the Northeastern meet, which we won for the fourth time during the past 7 years. This oddity has been dup¬ licated also in the Reggies and Indoor State Meets, the latter which we have won for three consecutive years. Captain George King along with brother Bill both of whom lived well up to their last name, headed a strong team down to New York for the grand na¬ tionals. Our relay team finished a brilliant third, for well over 61 teams throughout the entire Eastern Coast took part. George King and Gene Ellis finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, a mere 1 1 Oth of a second behind the win¬ ner of the 1,000 yard run. Earlier in the season, Ellis cracked Carl Joyce ' s fa¬ mous 1,000 yard record by 3 10ths of a second in the annual state meet. Sen¬ ior George Campot donning the track shoes for the first time ever, proved to be a consistent point winner in coach Cliff Ronan ' s large array of talent. Wally Cuskey, another first time senior, gathered over 23 points to prove to be among the finest weight men in the state.
